This song is a demo that I'll never use. Douglas was kind enough to point out to me that it is sung to the tune of a Billy Bragg song. I'm not a Billy Bragg fan but I must have picked it up somewhere subconsciously. Really, I just like the chorus. Keep in mind that I never re-take vocals on demos so you'll hear parts that are out of key and stuff but it is what it is. This song was written and recorded within an hour of me attending the wake of Johnny Mac, a true Charlestown legend. John lived up in Portland, ME for a few years and he would always come out to Ducky Boys and Unloved shows for a taste of home. He would buy round after round. I guess the fun stopped when I gave up drinking but he would still always show up. And then pull the Irish Goodbye. He came to be known by my bandmates as "the drunk guy?" with a question mark at the end. He was a nice kid that I had known since 4th or 5th grade.
